Abstract

ABSTRACTThe article comments on trends in the field of museums and heritage in Great Britain. There are virtues to be celebrated in the Folk Museum. First, its rurality, its overwhelmingly agrarian identity, has been qualified by the introduction of buildings such as industrial workers' housing. Secondly, there are more resident virtues in the museum. Thirdly, although the Folk Museum has been criticized for its traditional presentation, the importance of artifacts should not be underestimated. Finally, the continuing popularity of the seemingly dull Folk Museum should not be underestimated.
