Abstract

A detailed discussion is given of the observing techniques and method of data analysis for observations in the 1–3 mm band. Due to the broadband nature of the observations, the effective frequency depends strongly on the spectral index of the source. The attenuation and noise are well correlated with the precipitable water vapour, as estimated from the groundlevel dew point. Fluxes and upper limits are given for 88 extragalactic sources, of which six (3C 84, 120, 147, 273, M82 and NGC 4051) have been detected. The possible detections of 3C 345, 0727 – 11 and M81 claimed earlier are not confirmed.
