Abstract

Capturing full-human-body performances in real time, and providing accurate descriptions of both human body geometry and motion, enables a range of applications requiring virtual interaction with personalized avatars, such as game control; it is also potentially useful in other areas such as safety and security monitoring. Although rapid progress has been made in hardware devices and software techniques for both human body modeling and motion capture, little work has so far been devoted to simultaneous realtime geometry and motion reconstruction.
