Abstract

This paper considers the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) in schools focusing on learning about materials. We have developed tools that target different age groups of school children using the concept of AR. Our AR tools had made a good impression on a number of school teachers and we have received positive feedback during our preliminary AR tools trials at Family Days in the Museum of Science and Industry at Manchester, UK. We have now produced a set of evaluation forms for school pupils and teachers, and we will carry out further evaluation during our forth-coming Farnborough Air Show, Manchester Science Festival and school visits. The lessons learnt and evaluation results will prove useful in informing other AR tools developer particular for educational area.
