Abstract

Discusses the US Supreme Court decision in Yates v United States on whether the court below had erred in interpreting 18 U.S.C 1519, a provision criminalising the destruction of "any record, document, or tangible object" to impede or obstruct an investigation, as applying to the act of a fishing boat master in having, before returning to port, discarded and replaced fish which were found by an investigation officer who boarded the boat to be smaller than allowed under regulations.
